Living Song
Living Song aims to challenge limiting assumptions about what young people can achieve and gives young leaders centre stage, helping to create innovative lifelong learning opportunities.
Living Song work strategically with staff, children and young people, developing singing skills and musicianship through workshops and rehearsals that lead to expressive performances and increased confidence.
They develop leadership skills with young music mentors, young artists, teachers and singing leaders through formal and bespoke training and in collaboration with other organisations.
They are currently running a programme called Lead 2 Succeed for the second time. This is organised through Living Song, and funded by Newham Council through Aspers and aimed at Solid Harmony and their Alumni. It is being run by six Alumni young artists aged 23 – 26, who mentor twelve young people aged 14 – 16. The twelve young people and the six artists are now devising three performances, one for Plaistow Library, one for the turning on of the Christmas lights in Forest Gate and one for a larger event in the main hall of the NewVic Theatre.
